Southeastern College Tour
This tour for juniors is an important part of the college counseling program. Students travel with their advisors and college counselors to a wide variety of colleges and are exposed to the many components of the college search and application process.
This trip facilitates communication between student, advisor, and college counselor, and provides the student with the necessary information to begin thinking about the type of college that would best fit his/her needs. Oftentimes, Athens Academy alumni attending the college will take time to visit with the juniors and will share with them their personal experiences.
Campus visits also include information sessions from the Admissions Office, student-led campus tours, and meals in the dining halls so student life can be observed. As students have these important conversations with their advisor and college counselor, they begin to clarify the characteristics they seek in a college. This aids the college counseling process by providing the necessary information to enable a student to develop a list of preferred colleges.
