Second Grade Mathematics


The second grade mathematics program builds on previously taught skills and introduces many new concepts. Teachers use a variety of instructional methods which include the use of activities, manipulatives, games, cooperative groups, and workbooks.

The program covers a broad range of mathematical concepts which include whole number operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), number order and patterns, place value, measurement, time, money, fractions, geometry, estimation, and graphing. A strong emphasis is placed on problem-solving and promoting the mastery of computation skills.
