Seventh Grade History

Seventh grade American History is the second part of a two- year study of our nation's past. Students will focus on gaining an understanding of the Civil War through the events of World War II and how these events impact today. Students are taught to interpret and analyze historical primary documents. Students begin to learn the skill of note taking and are exposed to many study strategies to enhance their learning.

A highlight of the Immigration unit is a simulation when the seventh grade students role play an immigrant as they prepare for a journey to America in 1907. Students will experience the conditions of the passage over and go through many check points and inspections that immigrants faced at Ellis Island.

Prior to the week-long trip to Washington D.C. in April, students research a landmark that they will tour. Students will write a research paper and present a Power Point presentation to the class before departing. They will serve as tour guides while we are in our nation's capital.
