Welcome to Grade K4 - Four Year Olds
The K4 Program at Athens Academy is a five-day-a-week program. The day begins at 8:10 a.m. and dismisses at 12 noon. "Stay and Play" is available from 12:00-3:20 p.m. at no additional charge. A fee-based Extended Day program is available from 3:20-5:45 p.m. Regular after school enrichment classes in areas such as cooking, crafts, karate, and other areas are offered throughout the year. The K4 program nurtures the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of each student. Teachers emphasize readiness in academic areas and awareness of relationships with peers and environment.
The program develops skills in pre-reading, listening skills, letter recognition, and letter formation through the letter of the week theme-based units. Students learn awareness of self, family, community, government, and virtues with a focus on responsibility. Students investigate the scientific method and indulge their natural curiosity through hands-on activities with the science center teacher. They explore mathematics concepts using manipulative materials.
