Faculty Award For Excellence – Michael Lai, Christine Shaw
Presented to the members of the senior class who have demonstrated academic strength, commitment to learning and overall excellence during their years at Athens Academy. Recipients were nominated for departmental recognition in a minimum of three disciplines. This is the highest honor awarded by the faculty to a student for academic excellence.
The Headmaster’s Award – McGee Hopper, Billy Pate
Presented each year to a senior boy and girl who through the influence of character and unselfishness have made a significant contribution to the life of the school.
The Spartan Award – Sam Berding, Neal Timberlake
Presented to a senior boy and girl who loyally exhibit school spirit and radiate that special enthusiasm that inspires other students. Through conscientious academic initiative and participation in school activities, these students exemplify the finest personal qualities of honor and concern for their fellow man.
The Robert F. Marion Award – Christine Shaw, Kena Vyas
Presented to seniors in recognition of their outstanding service to the school and community, as his or her actions reflect the selfless devotion to the ideals and philosophy of Athens Academy as manifest in the spirit of Robert Marion.

The Kirk B. Oliver, Jr. Award - Katie Kalivoda, Elizabeth Newcomer Presented to seniors whose involvement has had a significant impact in many areas of school life throughout his or her years in the Upper School. With total commitment and without expectation of recognition, he or she has shown dedication and support for the common good, willingly taking on challenges with dignity and courage.
Scholar Athlete Award – Margaret Boyette, Sam Preston
Presented to a senior boy and to a senior girl who have achieved outstanding records in both academics and athletics.
The G. William Thurston Athletic Award – Emily O'Rear, Hunter Stiles
Presented to a senior boy and girl athlete whose keen sense of sportsmanship combined with superior athletic skill reflects the merits of Mr. Thurston. These athletes consistently portray competitive excellence with honor in attitude, effort, and performance.
Students’ Award for Excellence – Christine Shaw
Presented to the senior selected by the students as exemplifying the qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and school spirit. This student contributes significantly to the life of the school as well as sets an example for others.
