Undergraduate Awards 2010


D.A.R. Good Citizenship Awards - Chase Brantley and Sarah Yoder.
Awarded to two juniors who have most fully demonstrated the qualities of honor, service, leadership, courage, and patriotism.
Humanities/Social Sciences Award - Henry Terrell
Presented to a junior who has shown outstanding scholarship in both English and the humanities.
Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award - Carey Stewart
Presented to a junior in recognition of outstanding academic achievement in science.
Rensselaer Medal - Nicholas Adams
Selected by the Upper School faculty with recommendation from the Mathematics and Science Department, this award is presented to a junior who has shown outstanding academic achievement in the study of mathematics and science.
Wellesley College Book Award - Anne Lanier Gilbert
Presented by the Upper School faculty to a junior girl who has an exceptional academic record and has made a significant personal contribution to her school or community through her leadership, character, and citizenship
Sewanee Book Award - Jane Robbins Mize
Presented by the Upper School faculty to a junior who has demonstrated excellence in writing, the promise of continued outstanding writing achievement, leadership, academic scholarship, and involvement in the community
Smith College Book Award - Sara Wetzstein
Selected by the Upper School faculty this award is presented to a junior girl who exemplifies academic achievement, leadership qualities and concern for others through scholarship and community service.
Harvard Book Prize - James Waugh
Awarded by the Upper School faculty to an outstanding junior who “displays excellence in scholarship and high character, combined with achievement in other fields.” The winners of this award, through their intelligence and variety of achievement, exemplify Harvard’s concern for excellence


The William E. Smith Award

Presented to the students in the ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades whose performance reflects overall academic strength, commitment to learning, and excellence in scholarship. Recipients were nominated by the faculty for departmental recognition in at least three academic disciplines.
