Freshman and Sophomore Seminars

The Freshman and Sophomore Seminars introduce students to concepts that are important to intrapersonal and interpersonal development. Specifically, Freshman Seminar is a pass/fail course designed to facilitate the transition from Middle School to Upper School by teaching each student to think about his or her own intrapersonal development. Students accomplish this through various activities including reading and discussing Sean Covey’s book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens and by engaging in conversation with each other and with the Deans and Director of the Upper School.

In the 10th grade, Sophomore Seminar continues the discussion using The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens and further develops the students’ interpersonal skills. These seminars accrue 0.2 credit hours each.
