Drama courses at Athens Academy provide students opportunities to develop the skills necessary to become effective communicators, spontaneous thinkers and positive team contributors. An increased ability in self-expression leads students to improved communication skills.
The mental processes used in the theatre arts correspond directly to many attributes needed in our society. The Theatre Department faculty work with students to develop a positive attitude toward the creative process.
The world we live in is filled with creative expression. Exposure to the performing arts is vital to the appreciation and continuation of such humanities.
Musical productions are performed by each grade level in the Preschool and Lower School. Middle School students have the opportunity to take drama classes several times each week, where they focus on presentation skills, team work, problem solving, and creative expression. They can also participate in the annual Middle School play.

Drama participation options broaden in the Upper School. These students can choose to join the Drama Club, fall one-act play, spring play or the Shakespeare competition.
The Mock Trial competition and the Literary meet are also acting opportunities.
