Lower School String Orchestra Program
The String Orchestra Program is an elective program available to every Athens Academy student beginning in the second grade. The program introduces the students to the orchestral stringed instruments – violin, viola, cello and double bass.
Students learn how to play and care for the instrument of their choice in classes held twice a week. Students perform for parents and classmates during Friday Assemblies. The year concludes with the “String Fling” concert in May.
This outstanding program has produced many student musicians who have played for events across the community, state, and in college.
