Nicknamed “The Classic City” and noted for its restored Victorian downtown with boutiques, restaurants, and nightlife, Athens is a charming community 70 miles east of Atlanta. It is home to 112, 760 residents, including students at the University of Georgia. Athens enjoys all the advantages of being a “college town”.
The vibrant downtown teems with art galleries, trendy shops, world-renowned nightclubs and distinctive dining. Historic architecture and impressive gardens complete the unique blend of traditional heritage and trend-setting southern culture. The vibe and energy that gave birth to R.E.M and the B-52's is alive and well today!
Situated in the “Historic Heartland” area of northeast Georgia, Athens is just one hour from Atlanta and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Weekend trips can easily be made to the mountains, the beach, and numerous historic sites. Athens also boasts a lower than average cost of living and moderate weather with little or no snow.
