Ways to Give
Honor Gifts
Honor Gifts are given in honor of living individuals (teachers, coaches, family members, friends, and students). Many alumni choose to honor current, retired, and former teachers with Honor Gifts to Athens Academy. For Honor Gifts, a card is sent to the donor with a receipt. A separate note is sent to the individual being honored. No monetary amounts are listed on the acknowledgement cards. All gifts are tax-deductible. At the end of the fiscal year, Honor Gifts are published in the Annual Report. In some cases, an Honor Gift fund can be established to support a naming opportunity on campus or to start an endowment fund. Please contact the Development Office with questions about these special ways to recognize individuals.
Planned Giving
Planned Giving should be of interest to anyone who wishes to decrease tax liability on earned income, passive income, capital gains, or an estate while supporting Athens Academy. Charitable lead trusts or charitable remainder trusts in the form of unitrusts or annuity trusts can be of enormous benefit to both the donor and the charity. We encourage consultation with a tax advisor about how this information might apply to personal circumstances. For additional information, please contact the Development Office.
Memorial Gifts
Memorial Gifts are given to honor deceased individuals. Many families request that Memorial Gifts be made to Athens Academy in lieu of flowers. For Memorial Gifts, a card is sent to the donor with a receipt. A separate note is sent to the family of the individual being remembered. No monetary amounts are listed on the acknowledgement cards. All gifts are tax-deductible. At the end of the fiscal year Memorial Gifts are published in the Annual Report. In some cases a Memorial Gift can be established to support a naming opportunity on campus or to start an endowment fund. Please contact the Development Office with questions about these special ways to recognize individuals.
