If it's on the Web,
is it true?
Not necessarily.
Here
are some questions everyone should ask themselves
when using any information resource, especially the internet.
Who? Who is responsible for the information? Who wrote the information you are reading? Is it a researcher? Is it a student working on a project? Is it a person who is trying to sell something?
Where? Where does the information come from? Is it from a business, a school, a research center?
Why? Why is this material appearing on the web? Is it on the web to teach others about something, to sell something?
When? When was the web page written? When was it last updated? Is the information out of date?
What? What is the best place to look for the information I need? Is the internet the quickest and best place to find the information? Does the information I find on the web agree with what I read in books and magazine articles written about my topic? How or why does the information on the website agree or disagree with facts I've found in other sources?
