Alumna Makes Big Screen Debut

Athens native Mallory Moye makes her silver screen debut in the upcoming drama Parkland starring Paul Giamatti, Billy Bob Thornton, Zac Efron, and Marcia Gay Harden.  Mallory graduated from Athens Academy in 2005 where she studied acting with Lorraine Thompson, head of the drama department.  With her parents’ support and Lorraine’s guidance she attended Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.
Parkland recounts the tragic assassination of President John F. Kennedy through the eyes of those who witnessed it firsthand, when a handful of ordinary individuals were thrust into extraordinary circumstances. The movie was filmed over the course of 23 days in Austin, Texas, earlier this year.  "I learned so much from the other actors and my director during the shoot, but most of all I realized how few events in our country's history are so universally devastating that they unite us,” says Mallory. “One of my favorite things about being a part of Parkland is hearing from others exactly where they were the moment they learned the president had been shot.  It's something people will never forget, and I'm honored to share in the telling of this story."

Written and directed by Peter Landesman and produced by Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, Bill Paxton and Exclusive Media's Nigel Sinclair and Matt Jackson, Parkland is the ferocious, heart-stopping, and powerful true story never told of the people behind the scenes of one of the most scrutinized events in history.  The movie opens in limited theaters on October 4 and in wide release October 14, 2013.

You can also catch Mallory on the CW's “Hart of Dixie” Monday nights this fall.  She currently resides in Los Angeles.
