Fifteen members of Athens Academy’s Class of 2020 have been chosen for membership in The Cum Laude Society, recognizing their commitment to superior scholastic achievement throughout Upper School. Because Athens Academy will remain closed through the end of the 2019-2020 school year, the annual Cabaniss Lecture and Cum Laude induction ceremony was canceled in order to ensure the continued safety of the school community.
As the secondary school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa, The Cum Laude Society recognizes superior academic achievement and sound character. Congratulations to inductees Butler Adams, Anna Barkley, Kate Branch, Celeste Covington, Anannya Das, Catie Elder, Anna Hollis, Charlotte Luke, Georgia Parris, Anjali Patel, A.J. Peppers, Mary Palmer Roberts, Turner Trapnell, Elliot Williamson, and Logan Williamson.
These students represent some of Athens Academy’s best and brightest. They are leaders, athletes, artists, actors, volunteers, and more. This fall they will attend the University of Georgia, the University of Virginia, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Wake Forest University, Vanderbilt University, Williams College, Mercer University, Tulane University, and Southern Methodist University. Of the seven inductees attending the University of Georgia, all have been admitted to the Honors Program and two are Foundation Fellows.
