Students Inducted into Cum Laude Society

     Fifteen members of Athens Academy’s Class of 2017 were tapped for membership in The Cum Laude Society on Wednesday, April 19.  The seventh annual Cabaniss Lecture, which preceded the ceremony, was given by Jarrard Cole, an Emmy-nominated journalist and virtual reality filmmaker and member of the Athens Academy Class of 2008.
     As the secondary school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa, The Cum Laude Society recognizes superior academic achievement and sound character.  Congratulations to inductees Severen Brown, Clay Capra, Harper Cline, Allison Doherty, Mackenzie Ferguson, Jarod Gilliam, Lilly Gong, Julia Harisay, Alex Kozlosky, Anna Ford Pittard, Sandelin Sikes, Mabel Tie, Ben Trimpe, Annabelle Woodard, and Kevin Yin.  

Seniors Recognized by National Merit

     Seven members of Athens Academy’s Class of 2017 were recently recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program for their performance on the October 2015 PSAT/NMSQT.  Congratulations to Kevin Yin, who is a Finalist. In addition, Harper Cline, Jarod Gilliam, Nathan Glushka, Noah Johnson, Julian Shelnutt, and Annabelle Woodard have been recognized as National Merit Commended Students.
     Since 2007, Athens Academy students have accounted for 37% of all National Merit Semi-finalists named in public, private, and home schools in Clarke and Oconee Counties.
