Athens Academy is committed to protecting the personal information of all members of our community, including students, employees, families, alumni, and visitors. This Privacy Statement explains how we use and disclose personal information that we collect from people who visit our websites. We apply the same principles to all personal information that is entrusted to us offline.

This Privacy Statement explains our practices with regard to “Personal Information.” Personal information is any information that can be used to identify, locate, or contact you or (if you are a parent) your child. It also includes other information that may be associated with your Personal Information, such as information about your relationship with us.

Our Uses of Personal Information. We use Personal information for activities such as enrolling in classes or programs, signing up for events, processing donations, and providing educational and other services to you and your child. We may use Personal Information to determine eligibility for enrollment, employment, financial aid, and other benefits, as well as to provide marketing communications, surveys, newsletters, and other information from Athens Academy.

We also use Personal Information as needed for our everyday business needs, such as payment processing and financial account management, health and safety, contract management, website administration, analytics, security and fraud prevention, corporate governance, reporting, and legal compliance.

Personal Information Sharing. We limit our sharing of your Personal Information as follows:
  • We may disclose your Personal Information to our service providers, who only use the information in accordance with our instructions. In some cases, our service providers may collect Personal Information for us directly from you.
  • We may share your contact information with other members of the school community, such as in school directories. You may limit the information included in our directories (or opt out entirely) by using the tools provided on SpartanNet. We may share your information if we have your consent, such as if you ask us to provide transcripts to other schools.
  • We may disclose Personal Information where needed to enforce our rights; protect the rights, property, or safety of others; or to support external auditing and similar functions. We will always disclose Personal Information when required to do so by law.

Cookies and Other Technologies. When you visit our website, we collect certain information by automated means, using technologies such as cookies, pixel tags, browser analysis tools, server logs, and web beacons. For example, when you visit our website, we place cookies on your computer. Access and Correction. We respect your right to access and update your Personal Information. If you have an online account on SpartanNet, you can log in to your account at any time to access and update the information you have provided to us. If you do not have access to an online account, please contact us at academy@athensacademy.org.

Information Security. We have implemented an information security program that contains administrative, technical, and physical controls that are designed to safeguard your Personal Information. For example, we use industry-standard encryption technology to secure sensitive Personal Information when it is being collected and transmitted over the Internet as well as firewalls, site monitoring, and intrusion detection software.

Job Applicants. If you have applied for employment with Athens Academy, the Personal Information submitted with your job application will be used only for recruitment and other customary human resources purposes.
