It was a happy dugout as hitting, pitching, and defense came together for an 11-2 opening day victory at Tallulah Falls.
The Spartans scored 7 in the first, 2 in the second, and two in the sixth to earn an 11-2 victory. Hitters included: Henry Smith 3/3, dble, 2 RBIs, 3 runs, Pratt Ferguson 2/2, 2 RBIs, Charlie Kahlstorf 2/3, RBI, run, Kale Anderson 1/1, run, Wyatt England 1/3, dble, RBI, run, Blaise Hequembourg 1/1, 2 RBI,s. Asa Drudge, Palmer Bush, and Trent Muir also scored.
Five Spartans showcased their speed on the base pads with stolen bases.
Wyatt, Henry, and Palmer pitched a masterpiece on the mound with Wyatt picking up the win.. They faced 23 batters (5 over minimum at bats), allowing 2 runs (1 earned), on 3 hits, while striking out 10, and walking 1. Henry struck out 4 of the 6 batters he faced. Impressive stats.
Will Thomas and Wyatt combined to throw out an Indian attempting to steal home.
Every player in the dugout contributed to the win with their positive words and encouragement.
It was a great Valentines Day, spending it with the coaches, players, and parents sharing the love surrounding each of us.
