Leopards Claw Their Way To Victory

Leopards Claw Their Way To Victory

In a hard fought, tough pitching game, errors played an important role in determining the victor.  Henry Smith and Sam Johnson were on the mound for the Spartans, giving up only three hits each.

Charlie Kahlstorf had himself quite a game going 2/3, 3 runs, BB and 2 stolen bases.  Impressive!

Both teams  had 6 hits...Palmer Bush 1/4, RBI, Wyatt England 1/4, RBI, Will Thomas 1/2, and Sam Johnson 1/2, RBI.  Ethan Connelly scored twice as a courtesy runner.

Defensive highlights included
     * Pratt Ferguson making an outstanding catch in right field for the third out in the first
     * Will Thomas with a good block in the second
*. Will Thomas to Will Morris to catch a Leopard attempting to steal second in the fourth
     *  Will Thomas to Kale Anderson (also in the fourth) throwing a runner out at third trying to steal  (advice...don’t try to steal against Will!)
*. Anderson to Wyatt in the fifth for an out...Wyatt had simply an amazing game at first digging out a slew of balls in the dirt.

It was a back and forth game, and unfortunately, the Spartans suffered their first loss of the young season.

They will be back in play tomorrow at home to face Social Circle at 5:30.

Final Score:  Athens Academy 7, Banks County 9
