Which Athens-area high school football programs will get a boost from facility upgrades this season? - ABH

Farmer Fieldhouse coming along
Upgrades are also taking place at other Athens-area schools, most notably Athens Academy, where the new Farmer Fieldhouse is taking shape in the vicinity of Slaughter Field, which three years ago had a large video monitor added to the scoreboard. The fieldhouse will be utilized by seven different athletic programs at the school and will also contain locker rooms, a training room, meeting rooms and two offices for coaches.
Athens Academy athletic director Kevin Petroski said in early August that the project was progressing well and that the school hoped to have access to the building by October. He added that in addition to serving as a headquarters for other sports, the fieldhouse will relieve some of the pressure other athletic facilities on campus have been experiencing.
“This is going to allow us to have facilities that can support our teams,” he said. “Basketball and football have to use (the Spartan Center), as well as soccer and track and cross country for locker room space. We will be able to spread things out and the Spartan Center can be more of a basketball/volleyball locker room. And we’ll have the football team in the fieldhouse and our outdoor sports will use it as well.”
