Oconee's boys track stars shine vs. Clarke - Oconee Enterprise

Oconee County’s boys track and field athletes recently starred at a local event.
Clarke Central High School hosted an area boys and girls meet on April 1 that brought together the varsity high school track and field teams throughout Clarke and Oconee counties. Each county was well represented in the final results and Oconee had numerous competitors who placed high in their competitions.
In the 100-meter dash event, North Oconee High School’s Chance Cross placed third with a time of 11.05. Athens Academy’s Austin McGee finished fifth (11.39) and fellow Spartan Tre Hawkins finished seventh (11.76).
Oconee County High School’s Spencer Bright placed eighth with a time of 12.10 and Bo Manol of AA used a time of 12.56 to finish 10th.
Cross finished third in the 200-meter dash, followed by McGee (fifth, 23.69) and Hawkins (sixth, 24.21). Tanner Loudermilk and Harrison Broome, competing for OCHS, finished ninth and 10th with times of 24.82 and 25.09, respectively. Aidan Saeed of AA ran the event in 25.37, good for 11th, while Grayson Scott of OCHS placed 12th in 26.25.
NOHS’s Jordan Fick finished third in the 400-meter dash. Max Pearson, also a Titan, placed fifth in 53.58. Cooper Timberman of OCHS finished sixth in 54.81 and NOHS’s Eli Warrington ran seventh in 54.82. AA’s Preston Darden (56.63), Evan Smith (57.03) and Saeed (57.15) finished ninth, 10th and 11th, respectively. Steven Durocher and Andrew Seuser represented OCHS in the event and finished 12th and 13th, respectively, with times of 57.29 and 58.85.
OCHS’s Aidan Landrum won the 800-meter run in 2:00.18. Fellow Warrior Jack Stansell finished second in 2:00.76. NOHS’s David Duncan (fourth, 2:12.32) and Bo Hancock (fifth, 2:14.16) rounded out the top five. Robbie Dillon of AA finished sixth in 2:15.96, OCHS’s Tyler Brantley finished seventh in 2:19.71 and NOHS’s Eli McDonald placed 12th in 3:06.55.
AA’s Jackson Scruggs won the 1,600-meter run in 4:41.85. Seuser (4:45.70) and Patterson Graham (4:55.95) took second and third while representing OCHS. NOHS’s Tucker Cox finished fifth in 4:58.31 while teammate Matthew Kajder took seventh in 5:21.91. Luke Morneault of OCHS finished 10th in 5:37.37 while Jake Arnold of NOHS finished 12th in 5:53.19.
Jackson Scruggs from AA won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:15.05. Dillon finished fourth in 10:56.99. Cox ran the event in 10:59.86, good for fifth place. OCHS’s Andrew Knapp finished sixth in 10:59.93, NOHS’s Matthew Honeycutt placed seventh in 11:16.48 and OCHS’s Brady Hawkins finished ninth in 14:04.96.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Fick (15.95) took home the title.
Fick also won the 300-meter hurdles (41.59). Bright placed third in the event in 46.18. OCHS’s Lucas Hall finished sixth in 49.49. AA’s Grier Martin Williams placed seventh in 52.53 and Jackson Martin from NOHS (54.15) finished eighth.
In the 4x100 meter relay, AA’s team finished third in 45.97, NOHS finished fourth in 46.18 and OCHS placed fifth in 46.32.
NOHS won the 4x400 meter relay in 3:35.31. OCHS placed third with a time of 3:42.19 and AA finished fifth in 3:47.63.
The Titans finished third in the 4x800 meter relay in 9:45.60 and the Warriors placed fourth in 9:57.
Deion Colzie of AA took home the high jump crown (6-08). Cross (6-02), OCHS’s Ryan Hobbs (5-NOHS’s Jayden Halsey (19-0) finished fifth in the long jump. Fellow Titans Jack Butler (18-09.50) and Warrington (18-05) finished sixth and seventh. OCHS’s Micah Miller (16-11.50), Sam Farrar (16-11.00) and Durocher (16-08.00) finished ninth, 10th and 11th.
Butler recorded a triple jump of 39-02.50 to finish second in that event while Halsey finished fourth with a 36-04.
Drew Chambers of NOHS won the pole vault at 12-04 while teammates John Harris (11-04) and Owen Strickling (10-10) finished second and third. In that event, AA was represented by Collin Edge (fourth, 9-10), Michael Cashin (sixth, 8-04) and Charlie Vaughn (seventh, 6-10).
Dontae Calloway from NOHS won the discus at 130-06, edging out AA’s Johnerio Holt (130-00). NOHS’s Boaz Stanley finished third at 106-02. Khoa Le of AA (99-01) finished fifth and West Weeks of OCHS (95-10) finished eighth, just ahead of teammate Jack Durham Marable (86-04). A.J. Chambers from AA finished 10th at 67-08.
Jake Bostdorff of NOHS won the shot put competition at 44-11.5, followed by Calloway (second, 42-10), Holt (third, 42-0.5) and Stanley (40-08.25). OCHS’s Frank Hailey (36-03) finished sixth while Blake Worsham placed eighth at 35-08.75. AA’s J’Rico Wright finished ninth at 34-03.5, OCHS’s Carsen Stocklinski finished 10th at 33-10.25 and Le finished 11th at 33-01.5.
