Track and field teams show off at state championships - Oconee Enterprise

The high school state championship track and field competitions were held May 13-15 and, once they were complete, a lot of hardware came back to Oconee County.
There were multiple Georgia High School Association state championships and several top five finishes across the teams from Oconee County High School, North Oconee High School, Prince Avenue Christian School and Athens Academy. The state competition results concluded a wildly successful year for the area’s track and field teams.
North Oconee’s track and field competitors showcased their talents at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany.
Jordan Fick and Rhiannon Held brought home state titles in Class AAAA, marking the highest individual finishes among Oconee County-based competitors.
Additionally, the Athens Academy girls 4x800 relay team set a new state record. The team of Addison Ollendick-Smith, Sarah Harrison, Nathalie Lavender and Davis McLanahan completed the event in 9:36.81. This was the first year that event was held at the Class A-Private girls level.
Fick earned championships in three different events: pole vault, 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles.
In the pole vault event, Fick won the title with a mark of 14-6. He completed the 110-meter hurdles in 14.56. Fick won the 300-meter hurdles in 38.07.
Held won the Class AAAA girls pole vault event. She took the title with a mark of 11-9.
In addition to those individual championships, North Oconee’s boys placed second overall in Class AAAA. The Titans totaled 70.50 points across numerous events. That placed them just behind Stephenson High School, which earned 74 points.
In the girls division, North Oconee placed 10th with 26 points.
Drew Chambers also competed in the Class AAAA boys pole vault event and finished second at 13-6, just behind Fick. John Harris placed fourth at 12-0.
In the boys triple jump, Jack Butler placed 10th at 40-11.25. Chance Cross was fourth in the high jump at 6-2.
The North Oconee boys 4x800-meter relay team finished sixth with a time of 8:34.83. The team consists of Max Pearson, Davis Potts, Creed Sinclair and Tucker Cox.
Davis Potts placed third in the boys 3,200-meter run in 9:31.63. Potts also competed in the 1,600-meter run and finished fifth in 4:26.37.
Cross finished third in the 100-meter dash in 10.93. In the 200-meter dash, Cross used a time of 22.40 and placed fifth.
North Oconee had several in the girls division who shined during the Class AAAA events.
Kelsey Morse placed ninth in the 3,200-meter run in 12:37.97. Caroline Branch was 15th in the long jump at 13-8.50.
Shaliyah Hood took second in the high jump with a mark of 5-0.
The Lady Titans’ 4x800-meter relay team finished third in 10:05.95. The team includes Liv Bledsoe, Kyla Scott, Isabella Dattilio and Emily Smith.
Sarah McNeely placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.51. McNeely was eighth in 300-meter hurdles in 50.17.
Oconee County High School’s girls team totaled 32 points, good for sixth among the Class AAA girls teams. The Oconee County boys placed 12th with 20 points.
The Warriors’ boys 4x800-meter relay team placed third with a time of 8:09.80. That team is made of Andrew Guthrie, Aidan Landrum, Cooper Timberman and Jack Stansell.
Carsen Stocklinski placed ninth in the boys shot put event at 44-0.25.
In the 1,600-meter run, Scott Seuser placed seventh (4:28.87), Jack Stansell placed eighth (4:28.88) and Patterson Graham placed 12th (4:41.24).
Graham placed 10th in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:06.03.
Landrum placed third in the 800-meter run in 1:56.24. Timberman finished the event in 1:59.91, good for sixth.
Griffin Roberts finished seventh in the 300-meter hurdles. Roberts did so in 44.59.
In the girls division of Class AAA, Phoebe Brodrick finished second in 11:17.97 in the 3,200-meter run. Molly Meeks finished 12th in 12:15.54. Emma Champer ran the event in 12:19.51, placing her 14th.
Lula Hailey placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 37-4.50. In the discus throw, Hailey placed fifth at 109-1.
Annalise Hale placed sixth in the pole vault at 9-0. In the triple jump, Lindsay Farmer placed eighth at 34-5.25.
The Lady Warriors’ girls 4x800-meter relay team placed second in a time of 9:55.92. The team consisted of Champer, Abby Provost, Allie Parsons and Leah John.
In the 1,600-meter run, Sydney Matthews used a time of 5:29.17 to finish seventh. Kensley McConnell was 13th in 5:58.94 and Parsons placed 14th in 6:02.38.
Mia Senyitko ran the 800-meter in 2:26.29, finishing eighth.
Athens Academy’s girls earned 39 overall points during the Class A-Private competition. The Lady Spartans finished sixth.
The Athens Academy boys team finished seventh with 35 total points.
Addison Ollendick-Smith placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:16.74. Davis McLanahan ran it in 2:22.69, finishing sixth.
Ollendick-Smith finished fourth in the girls 400-meter dash. Ollendick-Smith completed the event in 58.51.
The Lady Spartans’ 4x400-meter relay team finished in 4:10.27 to finish fourth. The team includes Ollendick-Smith, Nathalie Lavender, Mills Crosland and McLanahan.
The Spartans’ 4x100-meter relay team of Deion Colzie, Preston Darden, Austin McGee and Aidan Saeed clocked in at 43.67, good for fifth.
Additionally, Colzie placed fourth in the 100-meter dash. Colzie had a time of 10.95.
Ryland Marley placed seventh in the 300-meter hurdles in 43.79.
Prince Avenue Christian School sent a handful of competitors to the Class A-Private championships.
Audrey Vandagriff placed second in the 100-meter dash. Vandagriff finished in 12.62.
The Wolverines’ boys 4x400-meter relay team placed fourth in 3:29.70. The team consists of Robert Skaggs, Zach Hill, Luke Lanier and Josh Britt.
