AOTW: Williams provides multi-faceted attack for Spartans - Oconee Enterprise

Kymel Williams is off to a great start this season.
Williams made his varsity debut with the Athens Academy boys basketball team last year as a freshman. He burst onto the scene with a strong rookie season and, so far, he’s following it up in similar fashion.
The Spartans beat East Jackson to open the season. During that game, Williams dropped 26 points to go with six assists.
He nearly matched that production exactly the next time out, scoring 23 points and notching six assists against Oconee County.
Williams notched a double-double against North Oconee on Nov. 22, scoring 14 points and registering 10 assists. He also finished that game with five rebounds.
The Spartans next played Southwest Atlanta Christian. During that game, Williams scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Williams scored a career-high 33 points against Westminster Christian. He also notched seven rebounds and five assists.
On Dec. 4 against Mount de Sales, Williams had a double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds) as well as six assists and four blocks.
In a rematch with Oconee County, Williams scored 9 points to go with six assists and five rebounds.
Williams notched the second triple-double of his career on Dec. 9. He dropped 19 points and had 14 assists and 10 rebounds.
He recorded another triple-double on Dec. 16. Williams scored 11 points to go with 16 rebounds and 14 assists.
On Dec. 20, Williams scored 23 points and notched eight rebounds and five assists.
The following day, he dropped 10 points and recorded eight rebounds and five assists to close out the 2021 portion of the schedule in style.
The Spartans returned to action this past Tuesday after press time with a region game against Athens Christian.
They will host George Walton Academy this Friday before taking on Tallulah Falls and Prince Avenue Christian School next week.
Athens Academy began this week with a 3-8 record.
The Spartans knocked off East Jackson 69-58. They notched a two-game winning streak in late November and early December, defeating Westminster Christian Academy (69-45) and Mount de Sales Academy (49-44).
