Located in the main Lower School building, the Lower School Library and Media Center serves students in grades 1 through 4. Students visit once a week for a regularly-scheduled library period. During this time, students engage with the media collection through librarian-led read-alouds, book tastings, and series spotlights. Each student is encouraged to discover their reading preferences and build confidence navigating any library to search for and assess information materials. Parents are welcome to visit the library during open hours and may check out items to share with their children at home.
The adjoining Discovery Center is where students engage in hands-on activities and begin to develop the technology skills that will support them through their education and careers. First and Second Grade students will lay a foundation of technical vocabulary and basic computer skills, while Third and Fourth Grade will learn touch typing, digital presentation, and database research. Throughout all grades, students find the tools to become independent, lifelong learners who engage comfortably and confidently with information, media, and technology.
