Athens Academy football coach Ricky Lane is a graduate of the University of Georgia. Coach Lane played football for two years at the University of West Georgia before transferring to UGA. He coached four years at The Westfield Schools in Perry, Georgia.

What do you consider to be unique about Athens Academy?
The commitment of everyone associated with the school to the overall development of the students.
What led you to coaching?
Hoping to show young men the benefits of a positive team experience and the life lessons that it teaches.
Who was your favorite athlete while you were growing up?
Hershel Walker and Ric Flair
If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
I would make a return trip to Italy with my family, because of the history and beauty.
If you could have lunch with anyone, living or deceased, whom would you choose? Why?
I have lunch with my dad almost everyday. I would continue to do so. He's the best man I know.
