BLOCK WINS AT LAST CHANCE
At the Carrollton Last Chance meet, Athens Academy’s Anna Marian Block finished first among 75 runners in the girls Class A-AA division in a time of 18 minutes, 28.62 seconds as the Spartans finished in third place with 80 points. Landmark Christian finished first with 30 points.
In the girls AAA-AAAA race, East Jackson’s Sue Ann Morales finished second among 161 runners in a time of 20:14.81. In the Class AAAAA race, Analee Bradech and Molly Silva of Apalachee finished ninth and 10th, respectively. Bradech crossed the line at 22:51.25 and Silva finished in 23:32.39.
Apalachee finished fourth among seven teams with 101 points. Jones County won with 40 points.
For the boys, Apalachee’s Merit Fontinel was the top finisher, coming in second among 79 runners in the Boys Class AAAAA race in a time of 18:03.42. Teammate Nathan Crocker came in 10th in 18:46.10 and Apalachee finished second among eight teams with 80 points; Bleckly County won the division with 52 points.
In the boys Class AAA-AAAA race, East Jackson’s Chandler Kennedy came in ninth among 211 runners in a time of 17:38.60 and his brother Chase Kennedy finished 10th in a time of 17:38.84. East Jackson finished ninth among 24 teams with 243 points; Westminster won the division with 90 points.
In the boys Class A-AA race, Alex Branch of Athens Academy finished fifth among 103 runners in a time of 18:07.75, and teammate Ryan Iyer came in seventh at 18:20.92. Athens Academy finished second among 12 teams, with Landmark Christian coming in first with 26 points.
