Saturday, December 17th was an exciting day at Ramsey! I hope that you all had an opportunity to enjoy watching our fantastic athletes demonstrate their skill. It was electric! Here's a snapshot:
ACAD took ten swimmers, almost a full roster to the meet! It was a huge meet with 22 teams scheduled to compete. We had a 1st place finish, Garrett Kennedy in 500 FS with a state qualifying time of 4:54.00 and one of our freshmen, Luke Phillips beat 18 other swimmers to finish first in the 200 FS with a state qualifying time of 1:53.31.
ACAD also had four second place finishes: freshman Riley Harding in 200 FS at 2:21.42; senior Garrett in 50 FS at 21.93 - there were 11 Heats in that event!!! Luke Phillips, 59.64 and freshman Ella Dillon, 1:04.29 both in 100 BK, both state qualifying times.
Our three middle school swimmers improved times in their events, Frazier Lavender in 50 FS, Jaime Berry took 8 seconds off his 100 FS and Carys Younkins who was first in her heat in 50 FS.
All in all we had SEVEN State Qualifying races! The freshman showed up and showed out!! Ella Dillon, Riley Harding and Luke Phillips will be heading to GA Tech in February with the three seniors! I hope the whole team will be there to cheer them on!
Begins Thursday, October 13, 2022 at UGA's Gabrielsen Natatorium aka Ramsey Student Center
Attendance at all practices and meets is mandatory. Please be in contact with the coach in advance if you must miss a practice or a meet, so that the coaches can make arrangements, especially for relays during meets.
Athens Academy provides participation opportunities for students interested in competitive swimming and diving. While the school does not have an on campus facility, arrangements are made to secure practice locations for athletes’ in season workout sessions. The majority of competition takes place in the UGA Ramsey Center Natatorium and are coordinated through a partnership with other local schools.
