Thankful For a year That let Every Player Have Their Moment in the Sun

Athens Academy 1, @George Walton 5

The Spartans played excellent ball but could not get the key hit in crucial situations and lost 5-1 to the Bulldogs. Wyman Baxley went 6 2/3 innings and picked up the loss on the mound. Will Miller (2/4) scored the Spartans only run in the first when Drew Richardson singled to left.

Will Corry, Wyatt Settles, S.L. Mitchell, Jacob Hudson, and Will Haver also got hits.

Defensively, the Spartans once again made highlight reel plays. Middle infielders Hayden Hudson and Will Miller combined for six put-outs and seven assists. Will Haver, Jacob Hudson and Wyatt Settles made all seven catches to the outfield despite a bright, glaring sun. Cosper made all the throws that came to first look easy. The normally hot corner was quiet for Connor McCleary. The team made no errors.

Will Divers and Sam Slocum added phenomenal support to the game and all members of the team.

This year it seemed like every player had that moment to remember... Their time to shine.

As the season ends, we give special thanks to all the coaches, players, parents, team mother Lisa Hudson, team treasurer Sherri Divers, announcer, diamond Spartans Caroline Colley and Kathryn Johnson, Nita Woodruff, James Banks, Kevin Petroski, and all that contributed to make the season such a success. The support was simply outstanding and deeply appreciated.
