Spartan Spotlight: Natalie Luke

Seventh grade English teacher and Middle School volleyball coach Natalie Luke has been at Athens Academy for eleven years. Originally from Marietta, Coach Luke got her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Georgia.

Five Questions with Coach Luke:

What do you consider to be unique about Athens Academy?
Athens Academy is not like night and day compared to other schools--it's like a different universe. The students, parents, teachers, and staff are all first rate--supportive and kind, hard working, professional. Everyone seeks excellence here, and we all help each other to reach excellence.

Who was your favorite athlete while you were growing up?
The 1984 Olympics were very memorable to me as a kid, so Mary Lou Retton, Florence Griffith Joyner, and Carl Lewis stand out in my mind. My favorite sports as a middle school athlete were track and gymnastics.

If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
Hanoi, Vietnam--great food, great arts scene, and adventure.

Which superhero power would you want to have?
I would like the super power to heal others, but I don't know of a cartoon character like that.

What school subject did you like the most? Which one did you like the least?
I enjoyed history the most & started out at UGA as a history major. I liked English classes the least--but I loved to read!
